Alex Hedley

Alex Hedley is a computer programmer from the UK.

I first came to 599CD.com in about 2011 for an Access course after finding a few helpful videos on YouTube.

After helping out on the forums for a while I was offered Tech Help and thoroughly enjoyed the various opportunities that have come up, no request is ever the same.

A bit of back story, I studied Joint Honours Accounting and Computer Science at Newcastle University.

Working part time at a Food Retail store I continued this after Uni doing various roles. Travelling up and down the country training staff.

I then did some Reporting for an Export company.

My last role within Retail was a Software Tester for a new Bonus Scheme they were relaunching.

After Retail I was working as a second line analyst supporting the IT insfrastructure for a major corporation, again moving into a Reporting Analyst role.

Spent rather a long amount of time in Excel and wonders of VBA automating most things with Macros.

I have now moved onto my current role as a Developer, programming systems for large companies.

Personal Life

I started a tradition of wearing a waistcoat on a Wednesday, this was started as a joke and has continued ever since. [IMAGE]

I like to collect playing cards and have a collection of about 40+ from semi clear, every shape possible and themes based on TV shows and films.

I'm a huge fan of LOTR and have bought a few official WETA Workshop replicas, I building a collection of Wizard Staffs. [Weta]

I don't game as much as I like but when I do they are usually Retro, I had an Amiga as a child and loved the Dizzy games. A great kickstarter I back was Retro Game Crunch, where we go to choose a theme each month and vote on the selection. [RGC]

A cool game I used to play and should start up again is Tantrix [Site] [IMAGE]

I've always had a love of Maths and I'm building a Menger Sponge [Wiki] [IMAGE]. Think I'll just do the second iteration with it being 20n

I love going to the Movies and have kept a blog for a while about them. It originally started on MySpace and then I moved it to my own site.

I go Bowling whenever I can, my average isn't great but I keep track of it too, I like to make lists.

I did a little bit of Sword Fighting a few years back but commitments changed and haven't been able to go for some time. It was hard work but highly enjoyable. [SSS] [IMAGE]

I've been a registered iOS Developer for a number of years and made the 599CD app [Link]. This will be updated soon (when I find the time).
