Help With Passwords

Need help with your password? Here are some tips.

Any password you need to open a downloaded file will be shown on your My Courses page .

The only password you NEED is the password to log on to the web site, which was emailed to you along with your invoice for the class. You can watch your courses online and even view handbooks without ever needing a separate password. For complete details on how to access your lessons and other materials, please watch this: Web Site Tour

If you want to CHANGE the password to log on to your account go to the Change Password page.

The only time you'll ever need separate passwords is if you're trying to DOWNLOAD materials (video, handbooks, sample files, templates, etc.) to be used offline. Then you might need a separate password. This is the password that is provided on the course page in My Courses.

To download the course (or handbook, or sample database files) you have to use the password shown on the My Courses page which is specific to that course. Each course and handbook has its own password. This was confusing, however, and I got rid of it about a year ago, so none of my NEW courses need passwords, but all of the old ones do.

Nine times out of ten when someone says the password doesn't work it's because they're copying and pasting it incorrectly - usually with a leading or trailing SPACE character.

Sorry for the confusion. It's a system that has been slowly evolving over the past 20 years and the older courses are still using my old methods. Upgrading is a SLOW process...

STUDENTS ONLY. First of all, if a file requires a password, then it is only for paying students who have purchased a class. All of my free materials do not require a password.

DIFFERENT PASSWORD TYPES. Your individual logon password is NOT the same as the course download passwords. The password that you use to log on to your account is unique to you. You either gave us a password when you placed your first order, or we assigned you one and emailed it to you. This is what you log on to our site with. It is NOT the password that you use to install a course after you download it. Helpful Links: Logon to your account. Your Course Listing with passwords. Download help WalkThru tutorial.

PASSWORD RECOVERY. If you know you've logged on to our web site before and can't remember your password. There is a password recovery link at the bottom of the Logon Form. Just click on the link shown and our server will email your password to the email address on your account. If you no longer have access to that email account, you'll need to contact customer service.

NEW ACCOUNT SETUP. If you just placed your first order with us using our normal order page, it usually takes between 5 and 10 minutes for your account to get set up automatically. Your password may not work until this happens. If you used any other order form to place your first order (we run promotions from time to time) then your account MAY need to be set up manually. This generally takes place by the following business day at the latest. If your password isn't working by the end of the following business day, let us know.

CASE SENSITIVE. Remember that all passwords on our site, including the course download passwords, are CaSe sEnsTive. That means upper- and lower-case letters DO matter.

COPY AND PASTE. To make sure you're entering your password correctly, try copying and pasting it from the email we sent you (or our web page in the case of downloads). Make sure, however, that you don't have a leading or trailing SPACE character along with the copy. This is a common mistake. If you double-click on a word in most email programs or browsers, you often get a trailing SPACE character which will make the password invalid. To copy, highlight the password by clicking and dragging over it, then press CTRL-C to copy. Click on the password field and press CTRL-V to paste.

BAD DOWNLOADS. Sometimes files down download correctly. Glitches happen. If you're entering a password to unzip a course download file, and it's saying "incorrect password," then try downloading the file again. If your download didn't complete 100% the first time, this will actually effect the password, which is based on the file itself. Re-download and try the password again. The passwords are the SAME for everyone, and yes, I've verified they work. Thousands of people have downloaded these files, so if they're not working for you, something is wrong on your end. If there was a problem with one of the files, thousands of people would have complained to me by now.

ONES AND ZEROS. Be careful between typing in a ZERO (0) or an "O" character. Likewise watch out for ONE (1) and "I" characters, which also sometimes look like lowercase "L" characters. Again, this is why it's better to copy and paste.

STILL NEED HELP? If you've checked everything on this list and things are still not working for you, just contact customer service and we'll be glad to help get you up and running.
