IMPORTANT: I will only accept files if they are accompanied by a TechHelp form submission. If you just send me an email with your file in it, I won't even open it. See below for details.
If you need to send me a file to look at, whether it's an Excel spreadsheet, Word document, Access database, or any other kind of file, you must ZIP it up in order for it to get past my spam filter. If you don't know how to ZIP a file, see this post.
Also, my spam filter won't allow files over 20 MB in size. So if your finished ZIP file is larger than that, you'll have to contact me for an alternative to email. Remember, you can remove any unnecessary data out of your database or spreadsheet. I usually only need a small set of data... in fact, I urge you to make sure there isn't any sensitive data in your file before sending it to me.
Now while I try to donate my time to help people as much as possible without charging them, there are only so many hours in the day. I do my best to give back, but time is precious. So, if you need help and you want an answer FAST, then you should consider using my PAID TechHelp support option. I do a pretty good job of getting back to people quickly if you use that service. It's not expensive, and if you need help urgently, it's the best way to go.
However, if you want FREE support, that's fine too. Just be aware the the list for free technical support help is very, VERY long. You should expect to wait at least a few weeks for a reply, if you get one at all. I can't guarantee any response to a free question, and questions with file attachments tend to get answered last (yeah, the easy, quick questions get answered first, usually). You'll find an option for FREE support on the TechHelp page as well.
Now, with all of that said, if you still need to send me a file, ZIP it up as described above, and then email it to me at [email protected]. Again, make sure you also submit your question via my TechHelp form, whether paid or free.
Also, don't forget you can post your question in my Forums, too. Lots of people read those, including me... and someone is more than likely to help you there before I get back to you with a Free TechHelp answer.
NEW: You can also send me a screen recording of your problem or question. Click here for details.
