ZIP Code Lookup Template

In this template tutorial, I'm going to show you how to perform a ZIP code lookup. You will be able to enter a ZIP code and have the system return the city and state for that ZIP code (yes, works with most foreign countries too). If it doesn't exist in the database, you will be prompted to add it.

Want to learn more about this template and how it's built? The first video above is the FREE TechHelp version of the template and shows how to work with a single city/state for a ZIP code. Click on the download link to get a copy of the FREE template created in the video.

Extended Version

In the Extended Version of this tutorial, if the ZIP code exists but there is only ONE city in the database for that ZIP code, it will return it and populate your customer form. If the ZIP code exists but there are multiple cities, a form will appear allowing the user to select which city to use.

Hi Richard,
I just signed up for the extended video however the video is greatly distorted and unviewable. So far all the other videos that I have watched are fine. Any suggestions?

I just tried it.  Looks fine on my computer.  You might want to restart to clear out your memory.  Try clearing your browser cache too  of it still persists.

Can you try from a different browser?
Also try from a different computer if possible.

Other than that I don't know what to tell you.  I tried 3 browsers and 2 computers and works just fine on my end.

Looks fine to me, too. I tried from 3 different computers and my phone. No distortions. That video has been online since April of 2020 and has been viewed thousands of times. No other complaints. It's got to be something on your PC. Do other videos on the site look OK?

You can also save the video file locally. Click on the link to play the video. Once it starts playing, right-click on it and select "Save Video As..." it will download to your PC. You can then play it in whatever video players you have on your system.

All my other downloaded videos play normally

Your other videos that I watched all played fine

That video may have not downloaded 100% correctly the first time you played it which can cause a corrupted file in your browser cache. That's why clearing your cache usually works. You can also try using an incognito window.

I'll try it again

Or try using a different browser. If you've got Chrome, try switching to Edge.

Thanks Richard it is working in edge. Was working also in my Adobe Premiere Pro. Can't explain it.

I assume your other browser is Chrome? Clear the cache and any cookies from my site. Delete any temporary Internet files. Try an incognito window.

Chrome & Brave...I'll use edge for your site which is already bookmarked. Thanks again!
