Hello,

I hope this is the appropriate forum to post my question. I experience some problems to visualise the course videos on my Surface 7 (running on Win 11). I tri ed out multiple browsers but in vain. Watching Youtube, Netflix videos is however no problem at all. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Thank you in advance for any suggestions. Kind Regard, RR
Adam Schwanz
Hey Roland, some follow up questions for you.

So it's only videos on this site? Videos everywhere else work fine?
What does it do? When you say problems to visualize, is it not coming up at all or it's coming up and blurry or something else?
Is it all videos or only one/certain ones?

You may try clearing your cache on your browser and trying again.
Roland Richon
Hello Adam,
Yes, so far I have only expperienced this issue on this site. Elsewhere they everything seems to work fine for ex. Netflix, Youtube etc. Well yes, by problems to visualize I mean there is happening nothing. The embedded motion screen remains black and the play button isn't even reacting. Up to now it's all the video's I have tried in the beginner course.
I cleared the the cache again as you said an try some different videos (beginner, advanced and expert) without any change. I have also downloaded browsers such as opera and brave and tried to run the videos right away but it didn't work. Maybe it's a hardware or configuration problem and luckily I can access the videos on other devices but the surface is more handy. If we don't work it out it won't finally be tragic. With that sad, I don't really get why the videos don't run on this device as it is all new. Kind regards and good night (at least for me now :) )

That's weird, it's a HTML VIDEO tag so strange that it wouldn't work, there isn't any extra plugins etc needed that would cause any problems.

Does this play ok?

Richard Rost
Yeah, I use standard MP4 files and HTML video... nothing proprietary at all. Millions of sites use the same technology.
Roland Richon
you are right it is completely weird because everything else works fine...I will give later the link of Alex a try. Is there an email where I can send a "snip" of the page with the black screen?

Hey Alex,

This link https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/video works fine.

Kind regards,
Roland

If you click on any of the video links, 00 - 07 do you get the same issue of it not loading?

Do the other Courses do the same?

Could you have blocked the wasabi?

If you open Developer tools in your browser are there any errors in the console?
Richard Rost
Are you behind a firewall? Corporate server? Government?

Hello Alex and Richard,

This are some of the error messages I get in the the devconsole and indeed there seems to be a problem with wasabi. But I have never heard of this and no idea to fix this. I have alreadz flushed the dns cache etc but without any result. The only firewall enabled is the one of win 11. Maybe the fact I get access over my home access point is an issue for resolving correctly the IP address. At my office, there is surely a firewall etc but everything works fine there. As I said, if we don t figuere it out out how to fix this, it won t be the end of the world but it is kinda interesting. Thank you already for your efforts. Kind regards,
Alex Hedley
Wasabi is a site for hosting files, much like AWS (Amazon) and other cloud providers.
Roland Richon
and what am I supposed to do with wasabi? unblock it?
Alex Hedley
Not sure why your home machine would have a problem.
Might your ISP be blocking it?

How do I whitelist Wasabi service URLs in my firewall?
Roland Richon
somehow I found a workaround. I had to change the DNS Server TCP/IPv4 to 1.1.1.1 (preferred) and 1.0.0.1 (alternate) and swell the IPv6 Protocole addresses 2606:4700:4700::1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1001.
Well the reasons for that beats me but up to know it seems to just work fine.
I must admit I prefer wasabi on sushis :)
Thank you all for your help to try resolving the problem.
Kind regards
RR

I've never encountered anyone having Wasabi blocked outside of a large company or government office trying to keep employees from watching videos at work. No idea why your ISP would have that blocked.
Roland Richon
Well no idea. What counts, is that it runs now...
