Microsoft Access Developer Network

Welcome to the Access Developer Network. If you are looking for someone to help you with your Microsoft Access database issues, troubleshoot problems, or even build a database for you, then you have come to the right place. For complete information on the Access Developer Network, please click here for details and instructions for posting.

Want to see Testimonials from other clients that have found Access help here in the Developer Network? Click here.

Developer Students: if you're interested in picking up some consulting work, subscribe to this forum and receive an email update whenever new posts are added. You will also be notified by email if any conversations you are involved in receive new comments.

Please note, that I do allow any of my students to respond to requests posted here. It's an open forum. However, unless you see the Access Veteran badge next to their name (shown at right), then I do not personally recommend them. My Access Veterans are long-time students of mine who I know have completed most, if not all, of my Developer lessons and really know what they're doing when it comes to Microsoft Access.

As a disclaimer, I take NO responsibility for any work provided by ANY person you may meet through this Forum. This is simply a meeting place I have arranged to put people who NEED help together with people who want to PROVIDE help. I, Richard Rost, assume NO liability for any services provided. Use at your own risk. Same goes for both users and providers. You are both responsible for your own interactions, work to be done, and any payments promised.

Add Backend to Trusted Upload Images   Link

I have a database split in front end and 16 backends which are on a share drive. I have share the front end. The problem that I have is that the front end adds each single table on each back end as a link every time the front end is open. I do not get the annoying open or cancel warning for each back end since I have open and add each back end to the trusted records on the windows registry. However, all the other users get that warning for each table. I do not want them to have open the back ends but I have also not found a way to add the back ends to the registry via VBA. I would like to see if there is a way to get some code that can read the entries on my windows registry, save them to a table and then add the same entries to the other users registry so that they don't get the warning 50 times every time they open the front end.

Use GPO (group policy) assuming you have a server, would probably be much easier to add a registry setting.

Unfortunately I believe that you will have to add the Trusted Location on each machine.
That is a one time thing but I'm almost positive that there is NOT a way to do it via VBA.
If that were the case it would open up a huge security hole and any one could program it for nefarious activities.

If you can't do it on the users machines an alternative would be to make up an instructions document on how to do it and have each user perform the needed actions in their copy of Access.

I'm unsure of how to address this or how it is handled when using Runtime or an ACCDE copy.
