We all have a thirst for wonder. It's a deeply human quality... There's wonder and awe enough in the real world. Nature's a lot better at inventing wonders than we are.

Asking Questions

Got a Question? Here's How to Get Answers

Hi there. My name is Richard Rost, and I'm the guy behind Computer Learning Zone. I love to help people with my educational videos.

While I would love to help everyone, there just aren't enough hours in the day to answer all the questions I get by email, personally. So, if you've got a question you'd like to ask, here are some ways to help you get an answer. Sending your question to the right place will help you get an answer faster.

Where to Ask Your Question

  • If you have a technical question, such as how to do something in Microsoft Access, Excel, etc. please post your question in the Forums. I have a fantastic group of moderators who can usually answer questions faster than I can.

  • If you need customer service, such as issues with your order, memberships, what courses you need, etc. then you can contact me directly using the Customer Service Form.

Before You Ask

  • Before you take the time asking a question and then having to wait for a response, did you search for the answer first? Try using my site's Search page. I've tried to include good keywords for most of my pages. If not, try a Google search. A lot of the times, the question you're about to ask has already been asked by someone else, and answered already.

  • If you're going to ask whether or not it's possible to do something in a program like Microsoft Access, have you tried it yourself? A lot of the times the best way to learn is by experimentation. A lot of the time your "what if...?" questions are things you can answer yourself.

  • If you're experiencing a weird error with Microsoft Access or something is not behaving like it's supposed to behave, have you tried my online Troubleshooter? It's a great checklist to run down before asking for help.

  • Have you read my Forum Posting Rules? If not, please do. Most of these rules also pertain to asking me technical questions. Please familiarize yourself with them.

  • Got a question about my courses, memberships, or that kind of stuff? Check my FAQs page. I've done my best to answer most Frequently Asked Questions there.

  • I do not troubleshoot databases, answer specific questions abour your database, offer one-on-one consultations, or provide technical support. However feel free to post your question in the Forums, and if it's a good one, I may make a TechHelp or Fast Tips video about it, if it's something that would make a good lesson and has mass appeal.
  • If you are looking to hire a consultant to help you one-on-one please see my Access Developer Network.

  • If your question involves personal information that you don't want public, you can use the Customer Service page, or click here to Contact Me.

Email & YouTube

I know in a lot of my YouTube videos, especially the older ones, I tell people to email me their questions, or post them in the comments below the video. I do take the time to read them all, but personally answering every question is way too time consuming. It was fine when I got a few questions per day. Now I sometimes get dozens of questions per day. It's impossible for me to answer them all, personally. I try to pick the questions that I see on a regular basis and make videos out of them so I can help the most people in the least amount of time. Here's how to get your questions answered:

Students

If you are a paid student of mine (meaning you've purchased some of my courses or a membership) then the best way to get your question answered is to post it in the appropriate Forum on the website. You may also post your question at the bottom of this page. I get a ton of email, so posting in the Forum is your best bet to get a fast response. I have a wonderful group of Moderators who help me by answering questions.

Non Students

If you are not a paid student, I will still try my best to help you. If you have a technical question such as how to do something in Access, or what courses you need to accomplish your goals, then I strongly suggest you post your question in the Visitor Forum. Again, chances are my Moderators will be able to answer your question faster than I will.
