I also use Winhost for my SQL Server hosting needs and have used it for almost 10 years. I also use it for my own private email accounts. All the other free major services like Gmail, Yahoo, etc., show you personalized ads by reading the content in your email. I'm very much against that, and gladly pay $60 a year to Winhost to avoid that. These big corps love to get our personal info because that's their business, and email users seem to have got used to that. "Getting used to" things is a dangerous thing.
I actually don't mind personalized ads. I'd rather Google know what I'm searching for so that when I browse Amazon or Facebook, I see ads for things I might actually be interested in. When I turn off personalized advertising, I see ads for erectile disfunction and weight loss. One of those I CLEARLY don't need. LOL. If I want to send something private, I'll use my own domain email, or encrypt the message. That's rare though.
