Here is my letter to my Congressman regarding abolishing DST. Feel free to copy and send to yours!

Letter

Subject: Urgent: Advocating for the Abolition of Daylight Saving Time

Dear Congressman [Last Name],

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of significant concern to many citizens within your constituency - the biannual practice of Daylight Saving Time (DST). I strongly believe that the abolition of DST is crucial for the well-being and functionality of our society, and I urge you to take action in Congress to address this issue.

Historically, DST was introduced to conserve energy during the First World War; however, the relevance and benefits of this century-old practice have significantly diminished over time. Today, many states including Arizona and Hawaii have already abolished DST due to its adverse effects, and at least 29 states have introduced legislation to follow suit.

The negative impacts of DST are manifold and well-documented. They include:

1. Disruptions to human circadian rhythms leading to sleep disorders, mood alterations, and increased risks for cardiovascular diseases, injuries, and other health issues.

2. Technical glitches caused by time synchronization issues, with notable incidents such as the iPhone's internal clock malfunction during DST transitions.

3. Additional burdens on businesses and individuals to adjust schedules, technology systems, and routine activities.

Moreover, the inconsistency in time observance across states and regions creates unnecessary confusion and inefficiencies. The proposed Sunshine Protection Act, which aims to make DST permanent, has been introduced in Congress multiple times but has not yet passed the House of Representatives. I believe that a broader discussion and action are necessary to address the root of the problem by abolishing DST altogether.

I kindly urge you to advocate for the abolition of DST and support or sponsor legislation that seeks to standardize time observance across the country. A unified stance against DST will not only alleviate the aforementioned issues but also streamline time coordination nationally.

Your efforts in Congress to raise awareness and take decisive action on this matter would be highly appreciated by many of your constituents. I am more than willing to provide further information or engage in a more detailed discussion on this issue at your convenience.

Thank you for your time, attention, and dedicated service to our community. I look forward to hearing about your actions regarding this important issue.

Warm regards,
