How and what software to package software for sale
Jeff Shepard

I am close to putting my software on the market.

I am asking for suggestion for software for bundling my software.  What software do you suggest?  this is a non server installation.  I know about disabling the bypass key and converting to a ACCDE file.  I also know to compile for errors etc.

I am looking for software for installation that makes a specific directory, writes to that directory.
My software does the registration.
Jeff

In suggestions are appreciated.  Will Microsoft runtime do the installation?

Hi Jeff  Take a look at SSE - it is free. I requested that Richard put it on his list for upcoming videos. You can also emcourage him to do it.  John

Hi Jeff
I should have mentioned that it is free but not for commercial use. It is only 199.99 for lifetime license.  HTH  John

John, I went to the link and watched the video.  The seemed to skip over a lot of information. If I downloaded the product are the instructions better?  Do they have individual instructions focused on a complete installation of an Access DB.  I notice on the new DB screen (the on after you click new), they infer you have to enter a Web page. Why? I would be emailing the install to individuals, and I don't have a WEB page.  Is this possible? And you show the price of the license above. Is a license required. I would only be using this for a few people and not charging them.

Thanks,
John Schreiber

The web page is only necessary if you want customers to contact you via the web page.  There are some video tutorials; in my opinion they cover the material but are poorly done. I want to see more concrete examples. That is why I asked Richard do do some videos for us because his videos are so good. I have successfully used the program and it is quite easy to use but there is lots more to learn. There is a woking example ready to go, so you can simply change the title, location etc and it will work. There are more videos in the help. You can download and try it for free, so play with it. When you go commercial you can buy it. I still would like to see 3-4 videos by Richard and then we all would be more comfortable with it. It does work quite well.  HTH  John

Thanks for the information about the software distribution software. Looks like it checks all the boxes for application/database distribution. Would Love to see Richard do a video on SSE.

thank you for all you responding.  I watched the SSE software video.  I have a lot of questions.  One question was sent to them on Thursday morning.  there is a lot of liability with the data the user creates.  That is the issue.  Someone suggested splitting the file.  that is feasible.  I also got ALCHAT code.  The code I don't see as feasible.  The install package has to do everything.  i rather not have code to update in the software package.  Remember My software package is not network compatible.  Its stand alone.

This the question asked and the answer I received from CHATGPT.

Will SSE software allow the copying of tables from one ACCDE file to another

SSE Software (which is typically used for database management tools) doesn’t directly support copying tables between ACCDE files in the same way you might expect for an ACCDB file because ACCDE files are compiled versions of Access databases that limit certain modifications, including the structure of tables.

I believe the best option is splitting the database.  the video Richard produces are geared toward networks.  However I believe it would work for a single table being split as a backend file.  I will be researching this more.  richard could you chime your expertise into the conversation.
