A Computer Question

I have a problem with my computer and I am wondering if you can help. The problem is when I am doing anything in any program I have a delay after clicking on something or typing. Sometimes I don't think that I have typed or clicked on things so I click or type some more and when it does start I get multiple things. Also my screen contents shake like something it going on. Can you give me some advice on this?

I'm assuming you've tried all the basics, like restart Windows, like a fresh restart, not just a quick restart... SHUT DOWN, power it off, reboot it?

You can open Task Manager and go to the Performance tab and see what the state of your machine resources are.

I tried all of the basic stuff. But I had to leave for awhile today so I turned it off again. I was gone maybe 1 1/2 hrs. and when I got back I started it back up and it seems to work now. Maybe before it wasn't enough time when I shut it off before. But thanks anyway.

It's possible, or maybe you only did a quick "fast shutdown" which basically puts the system to sleep and when you resume wakes it up in the same state. You need a CLEAN restart.

There are a number of things to look for when a computer is performing poorly.  One of them is hard drive space and health.  The other is ram space.   If you have 8g of ram, consider having at least 16.

Also check for malware and other inefficiencies.  Neither of which have to cost money.

check out http://malwarebytes.com  Yes they're going to try to sell you something but you can scan and fix with the free version.  This is a little different than just antivirus because malwarebytes is looking for programs that do things other than what the profess..   This includes spyware, key loggers, cycle theives etc.    If malwarebytes finds it, you don't want it.

If you did have  a virus or other malware and it fixes the problem but you get a host of popups on a reboot also check out ccleaner from piriform.com.   Again you don't have to buy it, but what it does is check your registry references to paths to be sure they exist.  Malwarebytes can kill the file, but the registry reference are left behind.    Run both and you'll almost have  new computer.
