DAO vs ADO
Monica Jones

I tried this on a database I began in the late 90's as my intro to Access. It's been through many variations over the years. When I hit compile at 11:36 in the video I kept getting "Compile error: User-defined type not defined". After some digging, I realized that when I declared rsSource, the type Recordset isn't in my dropdown menu. I tested it on a newer database on the same system and recordset is in the dropdown there. I tried a SaveAs Database to the default database format, but I get the same issue. Is there some other way I can update it? Thankfully it's nowhere near as complicated as Richard's but still, I really don't want to start over, again.

Could it be ADO vs DAO?

I googled ADO vs DAO and wasn't able to find a way to determine which is which. However, I added "Microsoft Office 16.0 Access database engine Object L..." to the references list because it's in my newer databases but not my old one. And now it compiles. So I'll watch the rest of the video and see how it goes. Thanks

Yeah make sure you have a reference to DAO installed and HIGHER IN PRIORITY than ADO. Or remove ADO completely if you don't need it.

I don't know which is which. I have (in order):
     Visual Basic For Applications
     Microsoft Access 16.0 Object Library
     OLE Automation
Microsoft Office 16.0 Access database engine Object L...

ADO is Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 6.1 Library.

I have several versions on my machine. 6.1 is the latest.
