Filtering a Form Using a Dlookup Field
Christine Ryland

I would like to filter a form based on data that is brought in from a dlookup field.  I can't seem to locate a video that addresses this directly.  Can this be done and what video should I watch?

I think you need an event afterupdate to run the filter.  Are you doing a Query or SQL?

Not a query - as it is an update form.  So SQL.

Oh SQL is not all that good.  But in a query if you set it up and then look at the SQL you might find a hint to what you are trying.  if still having problems not getting results.  try Chat GPT provide what you have and what you want out of it it may just give you the code you need.

How are you getting your DLookup data?

Is this going into a field?  Is this a variable in VBA?

You can update the SQL for the record source, just have to know the details of how your form is setup and how you're getting the DLookup data.

You can always update the record source on a form which will "filter" the data.

I don't know how you're trying to use this, but there are a few options.

On the Form Load event, you can run the DLookup and create SQL to update the record source that way.

If you have to use the field on your form, you can build an SQL statement using concatenation and update the record source that way.

It would help if you have a better explanation of what you need it to do and post some pictures so we can help better.

Yeah, definitely need more info on exactly what you're trying to do before we can help you.
