One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.

From Balloon to Bricks
Richard Rost

Just another update on my ongoing dental nightmare. As I wrote about yesterday, my oral surgeon drained the abscess and removed the implant so the area could heal before trying again. I guess the infection compromised the implant - I'm not entirely sure how that works, but clearly it wasn't going to stay in there like a proper structural support.

Today I'm in a whole new class of pain. Yesterday felt like my mouth was a water balloon about to pop. Today it feels like I got punched in the jaw with a bag of bricks. So, different pain. Less pressure, more blunt force trauma. But strangely, that's an upgrade. That abscess was no joke. I was starting to run a low-grade fever and my lymph nodes were getting sore, so it's good he got it out before it spread.

The good news is I can talk again - for the most part - so I might be able to record a video or two later. We'll see how that goes. I'm also itching to get back in the gym. It's been a week since I worked out. I do start to miss it. Not pushing it though. That can wait until tomorrow at least.

Now, painkillers. I thought the surgeon gave me two more days' worth when I left yesterday. Turns out... nope. He gave me naproxen, which is an anti-inflammatory, but not what you'd call comforting. So I'm officially out of the good stuff. No hydrocodone. Just ibuprofen and vague memories of painlessness. Thank science for over-the-counter options, at least.

That's all for today. I'll keep you posted.

I had my implant installation fail earlier this month so I know this part of the story.  When the implant was put in I felt fine for a couple days, then the pain hit.  Ibuprofen like it was candy for several days. They did give me some pain killers they never worked. They said it wasn't infected but dang that hurt.

I tell you... dental pain is the worst. I can definitely see how a few hundred years ago, stuff like this was fatal.

You could train AI to use your voice and read what you type.

Raymond I was waiting for someone to say that. But that has it's issues as well. The time spent writing the script, hoping that AI gets it "right" and sound like "human" (Said Ferengi style) and not AI choppy. And then editing the video all the while chewing on Ibuprofen like it was M & M's.

With as much as I've learned from Rick and this site... I was starting to wonder if he's already AI.  ;)

Rick, so sorry about your pain. Indeed, oral pain is no fun. I think it is time to find your Ferengi dealers for some of the good stuff. I hope your storage of Latinum is plentiful.

Richard, it was good to hear your voice again. Loud and strong in the Quick Queries 50.

The report of my assimilation was an exaggeration.

Resistance is futile.

Wait... what were we doing, again?

Sami nah, man... I've been out of painkillers for a few days now. But since he got the abscess out, I feel a lot better. A little soreness still, but ibuprofen is taking care of that.

Yeah, much better now. Thanks. Gotta wait 4 more months for the bone to heal so they can try again. Fun, wow!

Oh I know that part.  I have to wait till September before we try again. Then its a long wait before I have the last part done.
