Remove Item From a Combo Box for This Record

In ms access I have a combo box based on a table. this combo box gives me numerous choices to pick from. I want to remove an individual choice once it is picked so that choice is not available for a new record. At a later point I would like to reset the choices so all a available again. Is this possible and how can i accomplish this?

Hi Ron, Instead of removing it have you thought of having a field like AlreadySelected, make it a yes/no defaulted to No and then use a query instead of the table for the combobox. You can then in vba change the AlreadySelected to YES. You can with VBA change the field as you wish.  John

This can actually be a pretty complex problem if you're talking about, let's say, adding products to an order. If you want to remove the product from the combo box so that the user can't select it again, then you could do it with a complex set of queries or a little bit of VBA. It's more than I can explain here, but I can certainly add this to my list to put together a video on this topic.

Richard,

A video on this topic would be great! I am creating a database to operate a model railroad and want to use it for car forwarding in a manner consistent with the prototype railroads. It would almost be like a rental car company renting out a car, removing it from their available inventory and then when it is returned placing it back in inventory as available to rent.

All right, I will add this to my list. And the list is pretty long right now, plus I have the Fitness Database to finish. So it's going to be a little bit. Are you comfortable with a little VBA?

Yes, I'm comfortable with some VBA.
