Cant Add Food to Any Other Date but Today
Chris Tyson

So, what am I doing wrong?  Anytime I try to enter a food in the food log on any day but TODAY, it always puts me back on TODAY.  I can't enter anything on any other day.  So I downloaded the DB file so I could compare codes and this is happening with the downloaded DB file too.

Rick's database is using a different date format that your system.

He's using YYYYMMDD...

Your system is probably using DDMMYYYY.

You need to change one so the dates work correctly.

I'm using the same format as Rick and i have the same problem as Chris, I even went back and built a new database from scratch. I have now reached Fitness 24 and 25 rebuilt FoodLogF and have the same problem.

OK I just discovered that I can add a record to a past date and when I go back to that date its still there. However it also appears on todays date!

Raymond Thanks, I changed my system date to yyyymmdd and I am still having the same issue.

I think I may have found where an issue may be.  In Fitness 28 Richard added some Before Insert code to automatically add the time when one starts typing anything.  I rem'd those lines out and now I am able to enter food into whatever date.

Hello Chris every one

Just wanted to know if you closed access before changing the system date to iso date.
I had access open, and it did not work? seems to be a few people having the same issue with the date.
ISO date worked for me, setting up regions dates in windows can be tricky.

Darrin I do not remember if I had Access opened or closed when I changed the ISO date.  But I have shut down everything and restarted the computer and I'm still having the issue.

Hi All, I just rem'd  out those Before insert lines as Chris did and at first it appeared to work, inserting the correct time and on the right date. However I then found that if I added a new item to todays date that item also appeared on another date and when I deleted the item from the other date it vanished from todays date as well. So guess I'm going to wait until Richard has looked into it. regards All

Okay, I just looked at it, and it's not you, it is the database. I guess I haven't tried adding food to previous dates myself, so we'll fix that in the next video.

Richard Thanks Rick!  And thanks to Len too.  I thought I might be going crazy!  I wouldn't have to go very far sometimes though! lol

Yeah, you have to remember that the database is far from finished. There's still a lot of stuff that has to be built in it, and there's still stuff that has to be fixed. I still have a list of things about 20 items long that are issues that I've come across just in my using it from day to day, and most of them I'm working around. But I don't want to actually fix the database until I have time to record it as a video - then I make fixes and then I don't remember to tell you guys what the fixes were. So there's lots more to come. Just be patient, stay tuned.

On another note.  You may want to mention how to get the Debug Toolbar to show on the VBA editor.  I didn't have it on mine, but I did find it and added it.  You were showing the step through process.

Yeah, that's just like any toolbar. Just right-click somewhere on any toolbar and you should see a list of the available toolbars, including the debug toolbar. Pretty sure I covered that in the debug lessons in the Developer series.
