Changing Date Passed to Query.
Stanley Mc Keown

I have two charts which have a start and end date passed from a form to the criteria of the queries they are based on. Those dates can be set by the user.
I now need the same charts to have set dates (set by a formula) when I push a different command button on same form the dates incidentally this time are different for each query which shouldn't be an issue.
What is the best way to do this. I don't really want to duplicate the chain of queries for each chart changing where the dates come from cos that means I'll need to create two more charts as well.

Can I pull a duplicated query into the part of the chain of queries and tell the resultant query which one?
I'd rather use an if statement in the original date setting query to pick which dates to use ie if the user date button is pressed select the users dates or if the set dates button is pressed use the set dates button.
Is this the best way to go about it?

The reason I don't just set the user form dates is because the set dates for each chart are now different. Where before they were the same.
I could have two different user dates for each chart I suppose which would be the easy way to sort this. They are already defaulted from beginning of current year to today's date so I could just leave them separately set on form then have the set dates button on the form change the dates to the required set dates.

You can use VBA to update the Chart Row Source.  Change this to either query you want.

The original question follows the need to have two axis on one chart ( quarters followed by the leftover months )  I'm not even sure that's possible with access charts but I've come up with a workaround. I've found I can make one of ( or both ) the charts areas transparent background so that I can superimpose the months on top of the quarters then set the quarter dates to the end of the last quarter leaving the months to continue to today's date. It's OK but will retire further scaling per one, two months ( and 4th completed quarter ) as the two charts grow and shrink wrt each other. I'd rather be able to plot the two charts together on one axis or related ( as they should be ) axis.

Ie my chart should only show last 3 quarters and months done before end of 4th quarter or if 4th quarter complete just 4 quarters then as the new quarter arrives it drops the first left hand side quarter and gives the first month of the next quarter.
