Importing New Data From Excel

I download data from my company ERP system and other Excel file I want to send to Access to set up a new database.  The question I have is how to use/assign primary keys.  For example, I am able to download all of our NCMR data and the NCMR's do not have duplicate NCMR #'s.  I am setting the database up to be updated on a daily basis, and I am not sure what will be the best way to import data.  My guess is to use the NCMR # as the primary key and not use auto numbering for the primary key.  Will this lead to issues down the road?

You can create your own AutoNumber Primary Key if you wish to use that as a way to relate things?
Or just have the NCMR as the Foreign Key in your other Tables?

As Richard says "The primary key is for internal Access use, not for your use."  Or something like that!  I would not use the MCMR number for your primary key.  But I would have a numeric field for the MCMR Number.

How exactly you do it may depend on if you are simply importing new records each time or if you need to match records up to update changes to existing records in your new database.  You may want to have an auto number ID field within Access but also have your NCMR# then as you figure out how you need to relate things you can change the primary key if you need to before you set too much of it up.
