Standard Colors Palette

When I am in design mode and try to change colors my standard colors only show one row of colors. These are not the colors that I have used or chosen from before. Does any have an idea how I get my standard color palette back to what I call normal?

Adding more info. I also noticed that all of buttons on my main menu page and any other buttons throughout the DB now have borders around them also. I have not intentionally changed anything to reflect this.

I think this may be part of the recent update Microsoft did to bring Access in line with the color palettes in other Office applications. I have noticed the same thing in any buttons that I haven't previously customized. If they just have the default settings, they will align with whatever theme is set.

I tried creating a continuous form and all the colors I have used in the past dont appear in the Standard colors, however if I go to another location in the DB and format painter it will work. That is just a pain. So Do I need to reset to a different date on my updates to get the palette back? I figured out what the button outline was. It was where I changed the theme trying to correct the issue. It is back to normal as far as the buttons go. But my palette issue stinks. Are they trying to force us to use theme colors instead of standard colors?

This has apparently what has been done in other applications since the most recent Office Theme was introduced with the default "Aptos" font. There are no settings directly, through vba, or the registry that will bring back the old multi row grid of standard colors.

If you want the full grid back, you'd have to roll back your office version but then you'll lose any newer features (such as form zoom and impending large monitor support). Alternatively, you can create your own color Picker form or use the more colors option in the color picker which will let you pick any color you want.

I suspect it's more of an attempt to standardize the code base across Office.

And the other option is to learn to work with Themes and use the Theme Color grid. Once you remember to not change the global theme when you're working on your project, themes aren't quite so bad to work with.

In Access Developer 40, Richard shows how to create a custom color form and launch a color picker with 48 "Basic" color and will store 16 custom colors per session.

The code and directions for use are also available in the Code Vault.
