Access and Power Platform Developer Los Angeles CA
TechNews

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an IT Software Developer III - Power Platform and Access Support in Los Angeles, CA. This hybrid position currently involves two days per week in the office, subject to change, and pays $55.55 to $73.07 per hour. Microsoft Access and VBA are explicitly part of the development work. Applications are scheduled to close November 6, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific, but the recruitment may close early.

What the role entails:

You'll develop, maintain, and support Access and Visual Basic business applications while helping convert legacy Access systems into web applications using Power Platform and .NET. The work also includes Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, Power BI reports, and relational database programming with SQL queries, views, stored procedures, functions, and PL/SQL packages. The listing also includes Dataverse and AI-assisted development with Microsoft Foundry, Copilot, and GitHub Copilot.

About Metropolitan Water District:

Metropolitan is a public regional water cooperative serving 19 million people across six Southern California counties through its member cities and water suppliers. It imports water and supports conservation, recycling, storage, and other water-management programs.

Rick's take:

This is a substantial Access development and maintenance opportunity, with a broader skill set required. The employer specifically calls for Access and VBA application work, alongside Power Platform, .NET, C#, and relational database programming. Developer-level Access skills would be a useful foundation, but you'd need experience beyond Access alone. The minimum qualifications are a related bachelor's degree plus four years of relevant experience, or a related master's degree plus two years. Applicants must have U.S. work authorization without current or future visa sponsorship.

The migration work is also worth noticing. These Access applications are important enough that the organization needs someone who understands them, can keep them working, and can help move selected functionality to other platforms. If you've built real Access applications and expanded into SQL, Power Platform, and .NET, this one deserves a closer look.
