select customer with combo box

Hello Richard,
I have a table of customers
I have a combo box on the heading of a form. the idea is that the combobox will display a list of the customers following my entering of the first letters of the customer name and allow me to scroll down the list to find the required name. when I click the required name the customer record must display in the body of the form.
firstly do you have a lesson on this topic?

I have set the following properties for the form
The record source of the form is the table
there are no events in the events dropdown

I have set up the combobox with the following properties
It is unbound
there is no control source
the row source is the table itself

When i click the combobox it displays the records, but i would like it to sort them alphabetically ( it displays in the natural order)
then when i click the required record it doesnt display in the form
please help --
best regards

fred

Sorting the combo box alphabetically is just something you set up when you create the combo box. The wizard gives you a sorting option. Run through the wizard again and recreate the box. As far as the search goes, Access Beginner 8, lesson 6 covers creating a Search Combo Box.

See... this is why I love the badges next to your names. I can see that you're a Beginner student and can answer your question accordingly. There is a better way to do this, but it requires programming. You'll get there. For now, this is the best solution for you.

Well, the maximum number of rows in a combo box is 64k (over 64,000) so that shouldn't be a problem. Are you SURE the value is in the box? Is this combo box bound to another table (it should be with that many records). If so, have you checked the table?
