Count Members in Group

Hello Richard

I am just wondering if you we can use the account function you may remember we made groups and put people into groups earlier in the expert series this as you will remember it let you show who was in that group is there a way of getting a total for that group e.g. how many people or in web design

I'm really enjoying working With access and I may have mentioned at one point I went back to the start to double check the design of the database to make sure I haven't made any mistakes which I had and rectified I am back to level 12 in the experts the series will be getting a bit done over the Christmas break while my business is closed well that's my plan anyway I know you can do totals of something with numbers but can you do take totalling or getting a total using count with a continuous form with names and can you put a box at the bottom of the screen to show this you will be hearing from me I'm sure over the Christmas period while you're not going away because of the current situation around the world love to be able to talk to you in person one day with the time difference it does make it more difficult even if I was in the right level

Sure. Just use an Aggregate Query with the COUNT function. Join together the group with the members. GROUP BY GroupID and COUNT MemberID.

And for voice recognition, I use a Chrome browser plugin called Dictation for Gmail. It only works in the Chrome browser and in Gmail, but it's crazy accurate. You have to copy and paste the text from Gmail to whatever other window or web site you want to put it in, but for long emails / posts / whatever it works REALLY well... and it's FREE!

Hello Richard my problem as it is not counting a number I'm trying to get a total for how many people are in each group e.g. web design as you showed us to make many to many relationships back on level 5 or 6 in the expert everything that I have been pointed towards is for a footer not to count how many people in one category

OK, use an aggregate query with the COUNT function.
