Mark -
i just got to thinking about a couple other possibilities.
I just ran up and got a copy of the Beginer Level 2 sample database and it ran just fine for me. BUT I'm running 32bit Access.
You didn't mention which version you are running so If you are running 64 bit that may be the issue.  I know there was an issue in the past.
This is an older video but you might try the solution Richard suggested here. This link:

https://599cd.com/blog/display-article.asp?ID=778

Also - Make sure you are running it in a trusted location.  Depending on settings that might be an issue as well.

Hi Scott, thanks very much really helpful. Ive only started working with access in a any real sense. So any help and advice I get is really appreciated.

Mark: it should run fine as an ACCDB regardless of whether you're using 32 or 64 bit Access. The only problem occurs when you're using an ACCDE file and the wrong bit version of Access. In any case, I just downloaded it myself and checked it, and it's fine. It was created for Access 2010 and I'm using 365 (2019) now, so it's a good file. What's the EXACT error message you're getting?

Scott and Adam: thank you!
