Forced Auto Number

I realize that the answer to this question might be no, and that's okay.

My college physical asset database is working marvelously (thanks y'all for your help).  Now that I'm into it a ways, I realized that it might be nice to just have a blank template record with no information whatsoever stored in it.

I figure that I can do this manually by creating a new record, and copy/paste transferring all of the information from the previous record to this new record ad nauseum until I am left with a blank record #1.  That is a bit time consuming, though.

Why do I want an empty record?  My reports are all generated by queries; each report is ascribed to a particular record.  I want to be able to print off a blank form not tied to any building, so that the end user can just grab the form and go survey whichever building is on his radar.

Is there a way to force create a new record, say #0 or #999, regardless of where I am in my record count now?

No autonumbers and recordcounts are access controlled. What you could do is use a variable and get the current number off of it,

Dim X As Integer
Then DMAX that DMax and add +1 to it, that would be the autonumber you're going to be given on a new record.

This might also be useful, Custom Sequential Numbers

You could also just have it setup to open a certain record, say number 178 or whatever number you want, and then have a button wipe out the record completely to re-use it. You could also then have another button create(copy) a new record with the information you put in so it would be saved somewhere and then wipe the record #178 again for next time.

Few options here, not 100% sure which way you're trying to go but one of those should help.

What I've done is just make a copy of the rapport and delete all the fields except the labels of the controls. Print that report and give it to the users to fill in

Sure the Mailing Label Seminar shows you how to add blank records
