Forms in Microsoft Word

when you press "Tab" in a filling form Word document, it is supposed to bring to the next filling field.  I can't get that on my recent forms.  Instead of bringing to the next filling field, "Tab" will increase the typing space where I am. Can anybody tell me what to do?

You could set up your forms using a table. Set up each element in it's own cell and when you hit the [TAB] key the focus would move between the cells in your table. If you don't want to see the borders of the table simply turn them off.

But I still have template letters that don't have table in them and the tab does what is expected.  What changed?

Can you post a screen shot of what you've got there?

I personally do not like the 'new' form fields in Word for Office365.  As you are seeing they only work sometimes.

Very similar to the new Modern Pie Chart.  Nice concept but kind of buggy.

Any way...  I have found the best solution is to use the Legacy controls.  On the Ribbon Bar under the Developer Tab.  See first screenshot.
Then when you are done editing the Document, click OFF the Design Mode.
Next choose the Restrict Editing  (second screenshot).
2. Editing Restrictions - Choose 'Filling in Forms'
3. Start Enforcing Protection.  Supply password if you want.  Leave blank if not needed.

Tab should work pretty much as it used to now.  I don't get Tab Stops on check boxes, but it works pretty good on text form fields.
