You can log the user easily

Hi guys. Towards the end of the video, Rick says there is no EASY way to log the user. Well, there is a way but i only know 50% of the way. Maybe someone can help finish this off.

It uses a hidden Macro called "SetValue" and the expression =CurrentUser().
I'm guessing you cant use a Macro and VBA together on the same event so either use it on a different event OR if the macro could be converted to VBA, that would be good as well.

Be sure the "Show All Actions" is active and activate the SetValue option. Then set what field it adds to and add the expression =CurrentUser().

I apologise, this is an incomplete guide. Need to work out how to apply it to the ChangeLog Table that Rick made in this vid.

Hope this helps!

I think you're looking to use Environ, covered in Access Developer 31 I believe.

CurrentUser() goes back to the old Access 2003 days when you could setup a security workgroup with user logons and separate usernames. Now it will only return "Admin". I show how to set up REAL user logons in my Security Seminar. And yes, you can also use the Environ() function from Developer 31.
