Search Form

Good morning Richard.
I am hoping there is an easy fix to this situation.
I have a form that I have rebuilt from my original form named Return Goods Memo. It still works just fine, but as you have stated, not the best way to do it. This is the one that has 10 fields for each for Part Number, Quantity and Description.

My new form has a main form for Customer Name, RGM Date, Type Of Return and Invoice Number.

The sub form has the details, Quantity, Part Number, Other Information(notes) and Salesman Name. The sub form(details) is a continuous form. It all works just fine, but I was wondering how to put your search form to work with this form. The search box works and the query does show the results, but no matter what I have tried, I can't get the results to show up in the details form. A refresh button doesn't work either.

Are there different steps to do with a form within a form?

As always, your videos and help and or advice are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
David

P.S.
Still hoping you will do a video on How To Make A Returned Goods Database the right way. 😊

P.S.
I removed the search box as it was not working correctly, refresh button removed too for same reason.

David -
Go watch the Invoicing video.  This is very close to what you are trying to do with your return goods.
Instead of creating an order invoice you are returning  goods.

Your subform should be your "return items table".  Make sure it is a continuous form just like the order details subform in the Invoicing video. Also make sure your return items table has the Foreign Key ID to relate to your Return Goods Memo Form.  If you are not clear on that watch the Relationships video.
All you have to do once you have that form built is drop it into your RGM form and the relationship should be formed for you.

Now that you have more courses under your belt the other conversations may make more sense.

Keep at it!  You are getting better and making progress.  You only fail if you give up.
