I have an existing database with 500+ records listing my book collection. Although I have only been a Silver member for a few days I have been enjoying Richard's learning videos for quite a while. My problem is that my database was built very haphazardly and all the data is in one table. Can I break the database down with separate tables for Authors, Publishers etc?

There are a lot of videos in the TechHelp and if you know a bit about Access they are a great resource.
BUT - they are not meant to be a replacement for the courses.  You absolutely can split out your "bad" table into proper tables if you are willing to put in the time to learn.
I don't know  what your experience is outside of the couple of courses you have and the TechHelp membership.

In addition to what Kevin suggested you will need to understand Relationships and Action Queries Covered in Expert 13

Baby steps.  Get a good foundation now and it will save you tons of time later.  You are better off not jumping around chasing the next cool thing with out the knowledge behind it.

Keith - you are welcome.

One thing I neglected to mention - the other advantage of being here over many of the other sites I've seen over the years is you can actually ask a question and get answers.

I'm very privileged to have found, and be a part of, this group of GREAT people that genuinely like to see people succeed.

If one of the other forum students can't help, the Mods will jump in, and if we don't know, Richard will jump in and help point people in the right direction.  That alone is amazing.

Look forward to helping you on your "Access Journey"
