populate data with equation and move said data to
nelson

I have 2 questions regarding populating my database automatically and moving data from 1 table to another using a form.

1. Can you please tell me how to auto populate my table?

e.g. I need to have 100 serialized number to be populated on my table starting from 401 and I am hoping that when I enter 100 on a certain field, I will have series 401 to 500 on my DB table.

2. I made an inventory form that display an equation of stocks going out but said equation is not linked to my table.

I need to find out how to link the said equation to my table so if I record a stock-out on the form, said numbers will transfer from tbl1 to another table which is tblStockOut and delete the stock-out from tbl1.

e.g. I have stock number 401-500 on my tbl1 and I enter sequence 440-470 as stock-out on my inventory form, I need sequence 440-470 to be transferred to tblStockOut and delete 440-470 from tbl1 to avoid duplicate.

I hope you can help me with my situation.

BTW, I am using ms access 2003 database.

Nelson, for question 1, you just want to type in a number and add that many sequential records to your table? You can do that with a little For/Next loop. Say you have a textbox called Quantity, you can make a button and say:

For X = 1 to Quantity
Docmd.GotoRecord ,,acNewRec
Me!FieldName = X
Next

That will loop 'Quantity' times and then add that many records to your table.

Now as far as question 2 goes, that's not something I can answer quickly. In fact, inventory/stock control is something I spend about 10 classes covering. You can do it with a series of append/delete queries (AC222), but I recommend using Recordsets (AC320).
