Hello, I'm wondering if there is a way to create an outlook calendar item in the same manner the email was sent? thanks

Of course. I put together a quick form and code to demonstrate.
Should be easily modified to suit your needs.

works perfectly, in my usual style I decided to go messing about with it and adding information into the body of text. I wanted to have a new line for each filed I add, my understanding was that "<p>" would start a new line, but this is just adding "<p>" as text into the body. if you could point me in the direction of how to start a new line that would be amazing and again, thank you for your help. between yourself and richard I've learned more than I ever thought I could outside of an IT degree.

If you have your form set up as I have you can just hit enter (make sure the Enter Key Behaviour property is set to New Line in Field.
I am assuming you have multiple fields you want in the body of the appointment so you can do it like this:
olAppt.Body = Nz(Body, "") & vbNewLine & Nz(URL, "")
