Search Template

In integrating the search template I discovered that I have used one of the reserved words for a field. So I went and changed it but #Name? is still appearing in the column when I open the form. I opened and closed the database and also ran the database compact and repair - not sure what to try next.

In the table or in a form? Did you check that the control source got changed to the new name?

Probably still referenced in the VBA code.

Wrap your field name in [square brackets].

Control source in the form was changed when I changed the field name in the table. I did find one reference in the code that needed to be changed and did so but I am still getting the #Name? error in that field when I open the form. I ran the Quick watch and this is what it says: Context 02SPG.Form_CompanyListF.CompanyTypeFilter_AfterUpdate; Expression CompanyTypeFilter_AfterUpdate Value <Expression not defined in context>

I think it is time for you to post some screen shots.  Too many things to guess at.
show us in design mode with the properties of the field that you are getting the #Name in.

See Image Uploads if you need more info.

Whats the record source of the form? If it's a query, can you upload a design view image of that as well? The field may still be in there.

You mentioned that you renamed the field to CompanyType correct?
Double check the data source for the form got changed.  Also, double check that all of the code has CompanyType now instead of what ever it was before to make sure it got changed.  Access is not good about changing things in code when you make a change like that.

#Name usually is an indication from Access that "it can't find the field name that you typed".  That is usually caused by  one or two things.  1) You may have a typo - typed it wrong. 2) It isn't included in the data source of the FORM any longer. Possibly because of renaming the field.

Take a look at those and let us know what you find.

Yeah that screen shot tells me absolutely nothing. Sorry. :(

Would it be easier to start over with the better field name?

Is the Record Source of the form set to the Query? If not, that may be why the form doesn't recognise CompanyType.

The record source is CompanySortedQ which is a query.

Thanks for all your help, guys! I rebuilt the form using a table and it is working fine now.
