Sending a Text Message

I have set up a command button to send text messages using the code found in Richard's SMS Tech Help Video.  If Outlook is already open when I run the code it works fine.  However, if Outlook is not open nothing happens UNTIL I manually open Outlook and then the message goes out.  Outlook is NOT my default mail program.  Is that the problem?  If so, is there a work-around without having to change my default to Outlook?  Many thanks!

Maybe I'm confused.  The SMS Tech Help video seems to be based on a routine that sends an sms address to an Outlook email message formatted as [cell phone number] & [sms gateway address] such as [email protected].  ???

I think the non-extended version used email to text with outlook. Usually you need outlook to be your default for it to work at all from what I've seen.

You could just code in to open Outlook automatically when you go to send it so you don't have to remember to manually open it, but I think if you want to send it without outlook being involved at all you'd need to use some kind of API like they cover in the extended cut

Yes.  For my purposes, I think some code to launch Outlook before running the text message routine is the answer.  Thanks guys.

PS:  Found the problem!!  Feeling a bit dumb.  I did not have the MS Outlook Object 16.0 Library loaded.  Now it works perfectly whether or not Outlook is closed or open when I run the routine.

Richard take a look at the Code Vault.  Send Email using Outlook - Late Binding

I find Late Binding to be better in 99.9% of situations, mostly because I have access run-time in my environment and they do not like to play nicely with references ;)
