Al, thank you for the reply. I've read about EFT a little bit before, and from what I've seen it appears to be a sensible system. I'll save that link and peruse the site more when I have some time.

I got sick for a few reasons:

1. I haven't been eating right - too many "quick" meals and indulgences these past few months. For most of my adult life, I weighed 340+ pounds. Then after researching and learning the "correct" way to lose weight through proper diet and exercise, I lost 150 pounds. I kept it off for a while, but over this past year I've gotten lazy - a pizza here, a little fast food there, a missed workout or two... and I've put about 40 pounds back on. I've chronicled my experience at www.RicksWeightLoss.com.

2. I haven't been exercising. I find it VERY difficult to get motivated to work out in the winter. I live in Buffalo NY and winters here are cold, long, and gray. Very depressing. I love being outdoors. In the summer, I bike over 100 miles a week. I kayak. I love to walk places. In the winter, I just want to stay indoors. I find even weightlifting to be a chore. Come springtime and sunshine, the weight should come right back off.

3. I haven't been getting enough sleep. This will always wear you down.

4. I haven't been in for a routine chiropractic adjustment in a while. I'm a big proponent of chiropractic - even just for a once-a-quarter routine adjustment. I haven't been to see "Doctor Tom" in several months now, and I can feel it.

5. I've been stressed out! Too much work to do, and not enough time. Yes, I could hire more staff, but honestly I've been there. My last business dealt primarily with computer sales and service back in the 1990s. At one point I had 12 employees, and I realized I'm not a manager. After that business folded, I said to myself I will never be an "employer" again. I'm not cut out for it. If I can't do it myself (or with a little help from my family) I won't do it. I subcontract some things out (like having my manuals written) and I do on occasion have a friend of mine staff my customer service chat room, but I don't have any full-time employees. Too much of a headache for me.

And of course...

6. I came in contact with the FLU virus. My son was sick a week before I was. I'm sure he picked it up in school. Normally, when I'm "living healthy" my immune system is pretty strong and knocks it out in a day or so... but all of these factors add up.

I don't normally get sick. I haven't been SERIOUSLY sick like this in several years (a light cold here and there, but nothing that takes me down for 2 weeks). Now that spring is just around the corner, I should be able to get on the bike and hit the weights again... and start eating right.

One thing I've learned is that life is all about cycles. We have ups and downs. Look at nature... or even professional athletes... they have an on-season and and off-season. I just need to keep my on-season strong, and not get SO lazy in my off-season.

Again, thanks for the comments.
