Sub Form Field Update
Brian Pearson

Richard: I have a form the has two separate sub-forms embedded. I need a value from subform 1 to be entered into subform 2. Please see my picture. I figured if I add an "on click" to the specific BudgetID (from subform 1) to copy the value into the unbound text box and hide it), then I can use "Status Forms!frmContractBudgetwithIDSub!frmActualBillingEntry!BudgetID" to update the BudgetID field in sub form 2.
(I watched "Value Open Form" extended cut video but it did not get me there because this is a Form that has two subforms inside it.

Wrong details for the VB needed, but I meant "Status Forms ! ParentForm ! SubForm.Form ! FieldName" using actuals from my database.

If you just want a value from subform 1 put into subform 2 with a button then just do
Forms!FormName!SubformName2.Form!FieldName=Forms!FormName!SubformName1.Form!FieldName

Adam - BINGO! I actually used it onclick and works like a charm (there are many budget lines so the user will need to click the budge they are recording billings for. Thank you kindly and if you have any other ways to approach this its much appreciated. The client actually asked if she could just enter the invoice date they are entering and have it know which budge period but I can't see the answer to that.

2 is the selected record, see the arrow beside it. You have to select the 81 record if you want the 81 to come down there.

Yes Adam, I totally understand... this worked out well and I will apply this to seve3ral more fields that should update automatically. My picture was more to show that each line is its own budget year! Thanks again!!
