Reports Queries

Just to throw my two cents in.  I think that most reports should be based on one query.  HOWEVER, that query can be the last in a chain of queries.  What I find useful is to make relatively simple queries, and then join them together in a chain, step by step.  For example, join customers to orders in one query.  Then in the next query, join the results of query 1 to the order detail table.  Then perhaps set up a third query to join the second query to a supplier table, to get info on the suppliers of the items ordered.  Thus, each query is easy to understand and work with in itself, and you can test the result before you add the next piece in the next query.  I have one case where I have about 16 queries linked one after the other to produce a very complicated final query, which is then used as the basis of a report.  I find that if you try to join too many tables and queries together in one query all at once, it can be problematic.  Hope this is helpful.

My technique, exactly. I wonder where you learned that. :)
