Error Msg Problem
John Muir

I have a split database. I'm getting a strange error on only one record in my "Notes" field: The MS database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time

But there isn't another user.

I did a repair/compress and decompile - error is still there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John

There were notes in the note field which can't be accessed now.

Is this when you try and view it on a Form?

Can you access it directly in the Table?

Are you running the database on a drive backed up by Google Drive Sync? I get that error message whenever I use a DB in a backed up folder. Google is trying to backup the file while you have it open.

Yes, when viewed in the form, but also in the query. I see: #Error - and when i click on the field i get the message.

I'm using my server to house the front end.

Right before that, I did remove a field from a table in the FE db amd added a diofferent field. I deleted the link before doing this and then relinked the FE and BE after I repaired/compact.

Did you delete that field off the form and add the new one?

Yes

Try creating a new database file and import all your objects in to it. Your database may be corrupted.

Should i do this for the back end as well?

I thought i would try to see if the backend was the problem. I isolated the probelm to one table in the back end. I backed up the db and compiled the table and compact and repair and that fixed it.

Thanks for the helpful comments. they sent me in the right direction.
