Organization Improvement
Colby Wolford

The more I work with Access, the more "sections" I add to my database, the more I believe that the file organization aspect could be so much better with the additional option of using a folder system.

Being able to keep all of my Tables, Queries, Forms, and Reports in one folder for specific to each section would make it easier to find what I'm looking for instead of having to scroll through an alphabetized list of every item split by Type.

Has this ever been suggested to Microsoft to implement?

You could switch to Tables and Related Views.
All objects related to each table will be grouped together.

That gets me closer to what I'm wishing for. Thanks for that. It still seems a clunky mess though.

I was really just wondering if Microsoft had ever thought of changing the actual look. But I guess Access being the red-headed step child of the Office suite, as Richard says,  doesn't bode well for it to ever get a makeover.

It takes a bit of getting used to but it isn't too bad. As you're adding more sections, you'll definitely need to start defining your own groups.

HOW you define it is up to you. I usually have a group for each form, with supporting stuff like queries in the same group. Finally a separate group for the main data tables and another separate group for global stuff. Seems to work quite well but still takes some getting used to
