Subform text deleted

I have a main form with a subform in it that is used to enter notes. Nothing out of the ordinary yet. I have some text in the OnEnter event on the subform that will fill in some text if specific values are selected on the main form. That part works perfect. I noticed that after the text is added after the OnEnter event, if the user adds additional notes and clicks something that causes the form to lose focus, only the text the user entered is deleted. The record in the main form is intact, along with the text that is entered by the OnEnter event on the subform.

My first thought was the info in the subform is saved because of the loss of focus, however, that is not the case. Ultimately I would like the user to be able to enter notes, move away from Access if needed and be able to return to the same record if its open.

I should add the additional text is deleted when the user enters additional notes, clicks on something else causing the form to lose focus, then clicks on the subform again. I hope that makes sense. The odd part is the text that is added by the OnEnter event is intact. Please help

It sounds like your on enter event is clearing the fields contents.  Is it written to take in to account if there is already data in the field?
You probably need to check to see if there is already data there, if so do THIS, else do THAT.

Just looking at the screenshot you provided and reading the question you asked, it appears to me that you need what is called an Extended Info table.
Watch the first question in the Quick Queries #2.  This is shown in detail in Access Expert 4
For a quick (free) different example take a look at the Too Many Tables video to see how Richard gets specific data for different entities.
