Dear Universe,
I have a client that uses an apple MAC and would like to be able to access an ACCDB database what would the 599cd team recommend?

A windows PC :P.

You can use a virtual machine or an emulator to use windows on a MAC.

Maybe these might help?

FYI, I have the same problem. My preferred OS is Linux but have to use Virtual Box to run a windows hosted machine to access Micro$oft Office.

Heres hoping that maybe one day they add Access to Office Online

Hi Shannon, Access doesn't run on Mac, and has never been released on Mac, and probably will never be.  One way a Mac user could see data from an Access database is via a web interface that connects to Access -- just like the website you're seeing right now.  Richard does everything on Access -- this website, these forum posts, etc., are all stored in Access.  Anybody that has a web browser on their device has no problem using this website.  But yes, designing a website like this is hard work.

(Technically the data for the website is stored in SQL Server, but yes, I use Access to interface with it locally.)

I do all my MS Access development on a MAC, BUT, MS Access is actually on a MS Server and I use MS Remote Desktop Protocol for MAC (RDP) as my method of accessing MS Access.  Why do I do this, simply the MAC is what I was given to work on.  It works fine.  Some of the function keys you have to look up but once you are used to that Not a problem. Example the Copy Command is COMMAND C not Ctrl C and Paste you guessed it is COMMAND P.

I have created 6 different MS Access Db's on MAC, one Db now with over 10,000 records.

So agree with all above.  MS Access does not has not and probably will never by itself run on MAC.  You can though use and develop MS Access Db's with the right software to connect to a MS Access Db, but MS Access on a MAC, NO!.

Right, but you're technically still running Access on Windows. :)

On a separate note, a few days ago I was asked if I was ever going to release courses for the Mac. I get asked this every few months or so, so I felt it was time to add it to the FAQs section: Will you be offering courses on iOS, iPad, Mac, etc.?

Hi Richard,
Yes I am still running MS Access on Windows and clearly stated that I was, but your comment in Quickie #9 could be misconstrued to be saying you can't use a Mac to run MS Access.  A Tech savvy person would realise that it is possible, but there are lots of people out there who aren't as tech savvy as yourself so I commented to show it is.

Indeed. To be clear, you can't run Access NATIVELY on a Mac. You need a Windows emulator.
