I am following along with your database development for ContactF. I have everything working except the notes field does not change when I change CustomerID. Can you instruct me on where I have gone wrong?

First please don't double post.  We see the posts no matter what forum it is under.

How far along are you in Expert 1?  I didn't re-watch all of it but I believe Richard intentionally introduced a problem just to act as a "Teaching Moment".  He does that sometimes to make you aware if you run into problems.

My first thought is continue on in the lessons going step by step.

If that isn't the case we probably need more information and possible screen shots to illustrate what is going on.

Mike, I've had similar issues while working through the lessons. I've gotten a bit further along to Expert9 now. My approach is to simply run the lesson again from the beginning. If you need to work with the dataBase as it was before you made the lesson changes there's always a download available on the lesson page under the viewer area.

Changing the CustomerID on the Contact Form won't change the Notes on that Form as the field is bound to the Contact Table, Not the Customer Table.

Changing the CustomerID will only change which customer the contact is associated with.

Kevin Robertson: Thanks for the thought. It gives me some clues. I'll see what I can find. I have downloaded the database from the website, and it has the problem in it.

I haven't had a chance to re-watch the Expert 1 but I can't help but think you are missing some little nuance OR that you have a typo.  The CustomerID in the Customer table should be AutoNumber.  The CustomerID in the Contacts should be just Number of type Long Integer.

Go watch the Contacts video in the Tech Help.
same basic premise but slightly different style in presentation.

If a single field isn't changing as you're moving through the records, then check that the Field's Control Source property. You might not have it bound to the correct field in the table.
