MSACCESS queries across tables
Paul Ulinski

I am a beginner Access user tasked with building a parts database. We have multiple locations of inventory in Excel.

I have imported them into tables in ACCESS. My question is how to run queries across ALL of them, rather than have separate databases for each. I wish I had time to go through all the courses, but there are lessons that I simply don't need to cover.

Can you please advise on target courses to accomplish the above database described?

Hi Paul
Have you thought about create one Parts Table with a field called Location. That way all data is in one table but still identifiable by Location. It will make your life much easier as you search and sort. You can easily move existing data into this table with Append queries.   Building it correctly is the only way to learn. If you need help let me know. John

Hi Paul
As a follow up to my earlier comment, awhile ago I worked with a small lawnmower repair shop. He had numerous vendors, as you do. For example, he bought belts and spark plugs from different vendors, each with different part number and prices. Each vendor had his own salesperson, telephone number, address, hours etc. (simply a Vendor table for Access) However; we made 1 PARTS table and we could search on any part, any vendor etc. When he needed a specific plug we could see how many vendors sold that plug, what their delivery was, what their price was and choose the one he wanted to buy from. It seems to me that is what you are looking for. My earlier offer is still open.  John
