table queries

I have a form that is to be used for data entry of daily information.  I have a relationship between several tables ( AcceptanceT and dailyT), the AcceptanceT contains all the details regarding the instruments while the dailyT just contains the AcceptanceID and the daily information connected to that instrument on a daily basis.  My problem is that when I use the Combo box to select the instrument to be evaluated it search's the dailyT and returns values in the DailyT instead of starting a new record.  Even when I insert a new record line.  I know I am missing something very basic but cannot find it.  Can you help?

on the second screen shot the "Model Number" in the upper left hand corner is being used as the search item from the Acceptance table(not pictured in these screen shots) much like the Customer is in Richards examples.  the table is the one that is being used to record all the results from the middle section of the form with the Model Number being recorded as the AcceptanceID in the upper screen shot in column 2.

My problem is that when I drop down the model number it searches the table above and it just shows me the records in the table listed above.

Hope that clears it up?

Make sure your form allows you to add records.  Open the form, and see if the ribbon shows the "New" button (see picture below).  If it's greyed out, you can't add records.  If you can, click New, a new record should appear.  Whatever you enter there, including pulling a value from the combo, will be on the new record when you save.

Thank you for the advice Kevin, however when I enter the new record and use the combo box the only item that is displayed is the information in the combo box.  Nothing related to it from the table it is being displayed (see items from my screen shot i.e. Serial number, probeSN, Caldue Date, and all the Sigma items at the bottom of the form).  The middle section (Date/time, Counts Gross Count time etc. are the portion I want my end users to fill in.  I am still missing something simple I know but please help.

Thanks again so far.
