Text Box

I am trying to call in a state to a text box on a form and need to select the state on the current file I have imported into the database.  Example: The .txt file has "LA" listed as the origin state and "LA" is the origin state for all 228,000 rows.  I want to call "LA" into the text box on a form and have it inputted into a table.  The next .txt file would most likely have a different origin state.  This is why I do not want a combo box tied to a list of states for the origin.  Please reach out with questions.  Thanks in advance.

Sorry Joe but your question is not clear. What do you mean with 'call' to a text box ?

What is your table structure?

The call to the text box means bringing a single piece of data into the text box from another table or query.  Thanks for reaching out.

I too am confused Joe. Does your form have the table that was imported to as its source? If so, isn't "LA" (or whatever state in the next import) already in one of the table fields?

Or... is this form part of the import process?

Yeah, I'll agree that you're using terminology that's unfamiliar. I've never heard of the phrase "call in" with databases. In any case, are you saying that you are importing a file with lots of records in it and you want to set the default State field to "LA" for each of those records? If that's the case, all you have to do is set up a form that has the value in it, you type the value, and then just get that value from the form when you do your import or run an update very soon after you've imported the records into a temporary table.

Thank you all and apologies for the confusion.  Issue solved with a combo box that contains one state (origin) for the file I am working with and a combo box for all states (destination).
