Hello, I have taken the "Seminar AccCalendar". I loved the seminar and successfully built a beautiful and functional calendar for classes being held in our program - it includes time, class name abbreviation and location. They were so happy with the output that they felt I could do more. They asked me if different classes could be output in a different coloured background all on the same calendar. For example the class name 'English' be light green background while 'History' might be light blue background.
I got a "any questions follow up" email where I posed this question. The response back was that I CAN add conditional formatting to a report just like I can on a form. But when I click on the "unbound" boxes (1 forming each day on the calendar), the conditional formatting feature is greyed out. I know how to use conditional formatting but can't seem to get the feature ungreyed so I can use it. Can someone help?

Hello Wendy. I didn't take the seminar you are referring to, but I did create a calendar-based app (a digital diary) that made the current day on the calendar yellow. I didn't use conditional formatting for it. I made the background color yellow with a line of VBA code. I hope this helps. If you need more detail, I can post the specific procedure I used here.
Yeah, unfortunately, the way that the seminar builds the calendar, it uses Unbound list boxes and you can't apply conditional formatting, and you really can't change the colors for each line item. However, recently I've been thinking of possibly making an addendum to this seminar where instead of using Unbound list boxes, we could use Rich Text boxes and use HTML formatting for each line item. It's on my to-do list, so if you're not in a hurry, just hang in there, and an addendum is coming because a couple of people have asked about this.

I did something similar except I replaced the Listboxes with Subforms.
I used a For Next Loop to set the RecordSource of each Subform.
Each of the categories for my appointments is a different colour.
Subforms are definitely another great option. I figured that rich text boxes might be easier to implement and less resource-intensive. What I'm going to do is have it so that a single click anywhere on that day will open up a DailyView form on top of it, which will either be a continuous form or another list box form. Then you can double-click to pick a specific appointment.

Hi Jennifer - thanks. I do know how to do this but it will not help for my needs.
Hi Richard. I am not in a rush and happy to wait for any addendums to the calendar seminar. I would be especially interested in addendums that would change the unbound textboxes into 'something' that will allow conditional formatting so I can colour code the output. I do not need to open any forms as my intent is truly to print the calendar and hang it for all to see in the classroom. Thanks! P.S. Wishing I had the trekkie badge! Live Long & Prosper!
