Payroll

Hi,
I am trying to write a Payroll program. And it is not easy.
Could you please advise me what course, Lessons or Seminar I should take to get results quickly?

Yeah, I've always held off on putting together a payroll program because every place is different, every State's different, some counties are different. They've all got different rules and different percentages, so if you want to give me a brief outline of what the rules are for your payroll, maybe I could put something together for you. I'm not a payroll expert. Back when I had employees (in the 90s), I just let Paychex do it. Lol.

Sure, I'll be very happy to give you a brief outline of what is needed, and I'll be very much looking forward to seeing what you might put together for us 😊 I am so adamant to write a program for payroll because access is so awesome (thanks to your teachings) that by me now-a-days everything that can be put to access is being 'acconised' lol.

Only my brief is bit to long because of the rules for the Forum, will try sending you the rules by mail but in short for the forum:

-What makes Payroll difficult for me is that there are calculations within calculations, such as Overtime, Loan Repayments and Leave paid out.
-I have no idea on how to build the month end / roll over into the next month.
-And then we have different types of employment agreements: Permanent Employees, Contract Employees (for a period ' month's) and Contract Employees (for a specific Job ' per hour), 'Repeat' Casual Labor (per day) and Trainees.

Just a general advice.

I wrote many systems over the last 47 years in many industries. one system I will never write is Payroll. It has to do with people's income. You can fix an accounting error, or a wrong value on an invoice. but messing up a person's paycheck is something different.

Add to that what Richard has said about complexity of the roles and different jurisdictions. not to mention the changing payroll landscape every year.

Plus I didn't realize you're not even in the US. I can't even imagine the wide variety of payroll regulations there are in other countries. Maybe the goal here would be for me to make a basic series showing how to do some of the types of calculations that are in a simple payroll system... Completely agnostic to where you are... And we could go from there.

That would be a great series, Richard. How many parts do you envisage?
