Hi Richard. I wonder about the users' folder. Can I create different folders for different users on the network and copy the updater and front end to each folder or it has to be copied on their local machine? We are working in a lab. and computers are shared by different users. Computer 1, 2, 3 and 4 might be used by user 1, 2, 3 and 4. Thanks Masih
You might be able to modify my code to do that, but as it is right now, it assumes a single database server folder for your updates.

You are describing an environment that is identical to mine. I have several users sharing limited number of computers. However, each one of them has his own login.
So each user install the front end under his login on that same computer.
It works perfectly
And I can't stress this enough... it's best if the front-end runs from a LOCAL computer. Running the front-end over the network is a BAD idea. Connecting to the back-end over the network is fine.

OK. And regarding the updater, the back-end file will be in the shared "Server" folder, right? Do the users have to relink the tables to the back-end or I do it once?

You link the front end that you distribute to your users to the backend only once. Then every time you push them an update there is nothing they need to do on their side.
I have been using the update now for sometime and I have zero trouble with it. I could easily say it have saved me hundreds of hours.
You do it once. Provided everyone is mapped to the SAME place, then you shouldn't have to do it again. In other words, EVERYONE has to be linked to Z:\ or //SERVER/DATABASE or wherever.

We also have our own security. The updater will not interfere with that.
