Importing from Service CEO
Don Markovich

I'm wondering if someone has any familiarity with Service CEO.  We currently use this as our database.  It works for us but the company will not support it any longer.  So I am tasked with creating a database for us.  To create my CustomerT, I'd like to export fields from CEO to Excel but I'm not able to figure out how to do it.  Too much of a novice at this point.  Any help would be appreciated.

Probably best of asking on their forums.

Is it cloud or on prem?
Can you export data from it?
Can you connect to it with a DSN?
Do you know if it uses a database as its back end? If so what type.

Hi Alex,
-Our database is on our server, not web based
-I have exported selective data, like lead sources, routes but not customer information and other required fields that pertain to it.
DSN- You'll have to give me some more information on what that means.
I'm sure the answer to your last question is easy but I'm unsure what you're asking.  I apologize.

Hi Don
I took a look at the User Guide and here is some info on exporting:
Exporting Data from ServiceCEO
After you have integrated ServiceCEO and an Accounting Account (such as QuickBooks'), you can then
export data from ServiceCEO to the external application. For integration details, see the Accounting
Integration section of the Implementation Manual.
The Office Duties section contains three sections of exportable information: Export Sales, Deposit, and
Paychecks sections. Each section contains different information:
' Deposits. Exports customer payments. See the Exporting Deposits section for details.
' Export Sales. Exports customer charges (their invoices) and any adjustments to these charges into
QuickBooks. All Invoices and Accounts Receivables information (all completed charges,
inventory assets, and tax items) are included in the Export Sales tab. See the Exporting Sales
section for details.
' Paychecks. Generates and exports employee paychecks. See the Generating Paychecks section for
details.
Exporting Deposits (too lon to post)  HTH  John

Never used it. But I'm sure if you can export the data, the guys and I can help you figure out how to get it into Access.

Thank you.  I thought I replied to this post 2 days ago but it must not have gone through.  We have not integrated QB with CEO as it has created many issues that other users warned me about.  However, would it make sense to integrate it just to be able to pull data from it?  Also, some of their reports allow for customization and open up in design view.  I can line up the fields I want and have experimented with exporting into excel.  For some reason there are almost 30 blank lines in between customers.  This continues when I bring it over into an Access table.

Without seeing the data, I really can't say. I have zero experience with that software. However, I'm sure whatever data you end up with, we can get it into Access properly. Just need to see it first (a sample).

I tested exporting 3 customers to excel.  Not too bad.  But some columns are merged.  The biggest hurdle is the field that contains all of the details on the customer is exporting into multiple cells instead of one.  Is there a limit to how many characters a cell can contain before spilling over into another? And the cells are merged vertically.  Exactly 66 rows, then another merged box underneath.

Do you have different export options?
CSV / XML etc

I do.  And I tried some different export options and settings.  Found one that worked.  Sheer luck.
