Relating Two Tables
Tim Elbert

I figure I should know this already but too much time at the computer today...
I have two tables.  One is being populated with a form.  I need them both to update with the form.  Here is more info (photo to follow):
I have a form to create different custom mixes for clients (hanging baskets).  The form relates back to a MixPlugT so we can use the information to tell the grower what plants are being used and how many (this side is yet to be developed).  Once we make the mix, we then add it to the client's order where the basket size and quantity are recorded.  This form relates to a MixChoiceT with much of the same info.  I would like the MixChoiceT to update when the MixPlugT is changed.  What is the best way to go about this?
Thank you!

FYI - Both tables are joined one-to-one by MixId.

Hi Tim

If you make a single for using MixChoiceT  (Save it as MixChoiceF)
and leave some room on the form for another form. Make a continuous form using MixPlugsT. (Save  it as MixPlusF_
Open MixChoiceF in design mode then drag MixPlugsF into MixChoiceF. They should be linked on the primary field MixID for it exists in both tables.  Try it and let me know.

Did the Link Parent/Child Fields get automatically populated?
Lets see your Property Sheet.

So both tables have MixId as a primary Key.  Could this be the problem?  Should I remove the primary key from one of the tables and make it a number instead of an autonumber?

Yes, the 'Master Field' and Child Field are linked by MixId.  Picture following...

Can we see Design View of both
- MixChoicesT
- MixPlugsT

Which table has the MixID as a Primary Key (PK) aka AutoNumber and which has MixID as a Foreign Key (FK)?

Hi Alex
I think that is my problem. Both tables have MixId as a Primary Key.  Should I remove the primary key on one table and set it as a number, or create a new Foreign Key field?

Hi Tim
You need a Number field on the MixPlugs table with an Integer corresponding to the  data in the MixChoices table.
