I am going back through and watching some of the TechHelp videos I don't remember watching. I was going through the "Turning off Warnings" video and you remarked if you haven't watched the videos yet binge watch them on the weekend there are only 10 or so and you remarked you were starting a code vault but there was not much in there, you would open it to the members once there was enough. Looking back, Did you know where you would be in just a short 3 years???
No clue. I didn't realize at the time that the TechHelp series would become so popular. I figured it would just be a little kind of supplement that I would do for my existing students to answer some of their questions, and by making videos out of them I would help a few more people. Instead of having to answer the same questions over and over all the time, I could just point people to a video.
But what happened was the TechHelp videos started leading more and more people to my website from YouTube, and of course that increased my sales. People would watch the TechHelp videos and then purchase lessons and sign up to become members. So what started off as just a little Q&A thing that I was doing to help my students turned out to be fantastic advertising. That's why today it's a priority. I do my best to try to get at least one video out every business day, and that's how I've grown to over 800 videos in a few short years.
In hindsight, I wish I would have started doing these back in 2006 when I started my YouTube channel. I just put the occasional little tip video up on YouTube maybe once a month. If I had started way back then, who knows how big it would be right now. But on the other hand, I needed those years to record and develop my entire Access series. Now I can spend time on the TechHelp videos because I've got a pretty fully formed and developed course that gives people something to buy when they get here. So I needed the product before I could focus on advertising it. :)
