Add a Record at the Top

I watched the video on adding a record at the top of a form. When I tried it out, I got an error about a validation rule. A field on the table has a validation rule "Is Not Null". The error appears when trying to do the "Me.Requery" command. Is there a way to temporarily avoiding the validation rule?

Did you populate DSVol with a value?

Not on the new record. The user has to do that.

So is your process to populate some of the fields first then pass it on to a colleague to complete the rest?
Before you swapped to Record on top wouldn't the same issue have occurred?

It doesn't happen when the new record is on the bottom, only when I try to add a new record on the top. The error appears before the Me.Requery command is executed.

But did you click that button before or is that new to this?

I added the button after watching the video. I used the code that was in the video.

Using this technique you will need to remove the Validation Rule.
If you need to validate data entry use the technique Richard shows in the Extended Cut.

I cannot find the extended cut.  Do you know the link to the extended cut?
